In this original theatrical work, Poe’s life is brought to the stage through a haunting tapestry of his most celebrated stories and poems, woven together with letters, journal entries, historical accounts, and firsthand writings from Poe, his family, friends, and contemporaries.

Featuring The Tell-Tale Heart, The Masque of the Red Death, The Raven, Annabel Lee, and more, this original script explores the man behind the myth—blurring the lines between Poe’s lived experiences and the dark worlds he created. A deeply personal journey through love, loss, obsession, and genius, this is the story of Edgar Allan Poe as you’ve never seen him before.

A just confirmed special surprise for patrons of NTC's An Evening with Poe! On Friday and Saturday evenings, audiences can enhance their theatre experience at Before Nevermore, a Poe Speakeasy, in the lobby, beginning one hour before curtain. Guests can purchase specialty drinks and snacks, mingle with cast members, and speak with playwright Emily Kimbell about the production.
